This page is all about what I do, my experience, and why I do it.
What do I do?
I write. It’s pretty simple really. In the world we live in it is necessary to communicate information clearly and efficiently. The easiest way to communicate is by conversation, but unfortunately, the specifics of the conversation generally are not retained for long.
People generally retain more information for a longer period of time through reading, unless they are very gifted listeners. My writing services are basic content writing and blogging with on-page SEO, promotional email outreach, copywriting, and product description writing.
What is my experience?
I started writing at a young age. My first article was published by The Journal of the Everyday Sportsman when I was twelve. At age 16 and 17 while working for my family’s contracting and tree service businesses in NE PA and operating equipment, I started publishing YouTube videos about hunting and fishing. I found that some videos took off and others just fell flat. I didn’t know it then, but I had discovered something; more on this later.
I started writing my own blog and sought sponsorships for my video content with cold emails. I landed a few product sponsors and honed my skills as a videographer and editor. I also started writing as a contributor for an outdoor company called the Outdoor insiders. While the company can still be found, there is new ownership and a blog is no longer part of their website.
I went to aviation technical school and was certified as an A/P mechanic and a Commercial Pilot. I passed 11 FAA certification tests in 2 years and didn’t need to retake any of them. For two years I devoted myself entirely to my aviation training but started an email list for people that were interested in what I was doing.
My goal with aviation was and is to share the work of Jesus. Since then, I have joined a non-profit, continued writing my own promotional emails, and have made a living from them for the last few years. I have been sharing my projects, what I am learning in life, and the mission’s that I have accomplished and planned and inviting people to invest in the work that I am doing in the non-profit sector.
So, why do I do what I do?
In 2021 I started to think about long-term ideas. Where do I want to go with life? What is a good vocational fit for me and my family for years to come? What skills do I have that I could use? I started to revisit my YouTube channel. I found that the videos that did well were videos with searchable titles. I realized what I had discovered years before and when I want to have a video that is seen, I use searchable names. This has worked well in my recent videos. They rank in the top 10 videos of a relevant search.
I also learned about on-page SEO, and that the currency of the internet is backlinks. Then summer came, and I got busy with other things. When winter rolled back around, I was tired, low on money, because I chose to no longer use nonprofit money for salary on a point of conviction, and honestly a little bit frustrated.
The way I saw it, I had two choices: get a normal job, or start writing. I also realized that the choice I made would impact the rest of my life. The course that I charted would likely be where I ended up at the end of my life. With my wife expecting a baby, I wanted to make a choice that would put us on a long-term path of sustainability.
I still devote 30 hours a week to aviation work in Alaska, working on airplanes in my garage and preparing to fly in the summer to continue the nonprofit work I am a part of. I now write 30 hours a week to provide for my family and their future.
